Deep North
The eighth and final biome, an icy landscape arriving with the 1.0 launch on September 9, 2026. A preview of what is announced so far.
The Deep North is the last biome in Valheim and the one that closes the game out. It launches with the full 1.0 release on September 9, 2026, an icy landscape in the far north that follows the Ashlands as the final progression tier. Much of it is still unannounced, so treat this page as a preview. What is confirmed points to a frozen frontier with new enemies, new dungeons, and the game’s true final boss waiting at the top of the run.
Everything below is preview. Iron Gate has confirmed the broad strokes of the Deep North, but specifics, numbers, and exact mechanics are not final until 1.0 ships on September 9, 2026. Expect details to change, and check back after launch for the confirmed guide.
What lives here
Two enemies are announced so far. Gammeltrolls and Elakingar are the named threats of the Deep North, and the biome adds underground dungeons to explore alongside them. The frozen setting suggests the cold will be a factor, as it is in the Mountains, but the exact survival demands of the Deep North are not yet detailed. As more is confirmed, expect the full roster of enemies, hazards, and how they fight to fill in.
What you gather
The materials and metals of the Deep North have not been detailed yet. As the final biome, it is positioned to deliver the last tier of gear and the resources tied to it, but the specific ores, crafting materials, and stations are preview until launch. Once 1.0 ships, this section will cover what you mine, what you cook, and what the new tier crafts.
The final boss
The Deep North holds the game’s final boss, the capstone of the entire eight-boss progression that runs Eikthyr to Fader and then ends here. Its name, summon items, drops, and Forsaken Power are all unannounced. When details land at launch, the boss will get its own page like every other forsaken; for now, know that the Deep North is where the run finishes and the last fight lives.
When to move on
There is nowhere to move on to. The Deep North is the end of the intended progression and the completion of the game. Until 1.0 arrives on September 9, 2026, the live endgame remains the Ashlands and its boss Fader. Gear up there, finish the flametal tier, and be ready when the Deep North opens.
